This year sees the first ever All-Ireland Astronomy week from 20th to 26th of March. The Geopark is delighted to host an event in Petersburg Outdoor Education and Training Centre on Wednesday the 22nd of March at 8pm, free of charge. The event will consist of a talk by Georgia McMillan of Mayo Dark Sky park where she will introduce the park, the importance of dark skies and the opportunities of astrotourism. This will be followed by presentation on general astronomy; the main things that can be seen and how to recognise the main stars, planets and constellations of our dark sky. Weather permitted, this second part will take place outside.
