Irish Geoparks Forum 2020
The Irish UNESCO Global Geological Committee (IUGGC), formerly known as the All-Ireland Geoparks Forum, was set up in 2007, to help support Ireland’s Geoparks and Geopark projects. It is co-chaired by the Geological Surveys of Ireland and Northern Ireland and has representatives from each of Ireland’s three UNESCO Global Geoparks. The forum showcases Ireland’s UNESCO Global Geoparks and other Geopark and geotourism projects.
This year, the Annual Irish Geoparks Forum will take place virtually on Thursday 12 November 2020 from 10:00 – 13:00.
Kristin Ragnes, co-ordinator of the European Geoparks Network, will be the keynote speaker. She will speak on the theme of ‘Geoparks and Resilience‘. This will be followed by short talks from the existing Irish UNESCO Global Geoparks, Marble Arch Caves, Copper Coast and Burren and Cliffs of Moher, and the aspiring geoparks, Antrim, Joyce Country & Western Lakes, and Mourne Gullion Strangford.
Everyone is welcome, but you must register at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/irish-geoparks-forum-tickets-127709549701 to receive a Zoom link to the forum.
