Following the publication in 2020 of the booklet entitled “Place Names and Geology in the Joyce Country and Western Lakes region” (pdf english and irish), the geopark team and the Joyce Country and Western Lakes GeoEnterprise continues on its endeavour to shine a light on this very precious interaction between our landscape and our cultural heritage. This event follows on from the recording of place names in the valley of Lough Nafooey to the other communities around Mount Gable and will continue for further communities of the geopark region later on.Everyone is welcome but we are particularly looking for people with knowledge on the mountain’s place names and its history.
