The communities of the Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark region are organising a weekend of celebration to mark our official ratification as a UNESCO Global Geopark on Thursday 23rd April

- 8-10pm, Angler’s Rest, Headford: Local showcase of Choir, Drums, Headford Lace.

Friday 24th April
- 11-12pm, Oughterard (venue tbc): School workshop with NS and secondary school
- 2-4pm, The Larches, Finny: Storytelling, Music and local crafts
- 6-9pm, Crossroads community centre, Cong: Communities and stakeholders showcase with local food
Saturday 25th April
- 9:30-12pm, Parkrun venues, Oughterard, Tourmakeady and Clonbur
- 10-11:30pm, Ballinrobe: Historical walk
- 2-4pm, Halla pobail, Tourmakeady: Music and heritage
- 2-5pm, Oughterard Courthourse: Geowalk followed by Harp recital and art and heritage artefacts exhibition
Sunday 26th April
- 12-5pm, Oughterard Courthouse: Community organisations showcase
- 5-7pm, Clonbur: Guided walks in the village and woods
- 7-9:30pm, Sciobal, Ballintubber: Lough Carra Catchment presentation and Heritage display
