ATTRACTION

Corr na Móna, GALWAY

Corr na Móna (meaning “the round hill of the bog” in Irish) is a Gaeltacht village and townland in County Galway, lying on the north of Lough Corrib in the middle of Joyce Country.

One of the most scenic areas of the country, Corr na Móna is a popular site among trout and salmon anglers. The eastern edge of the area comes down to the shores of Lough Corrib while the western edge borders the scenic upland area of An Mám, the Maam Valley and the Maumturk Mountains.

As well as having visitor amenities the village is at one end of the Sean Bothair Walk.  There is a rock outcrop composed of Dalradian marble in the village. Corr na Móna Viewpoint is about 1 kilometre to the south west of Corr na Móna village alongside the R345 road.  The viewpoint is on the shore of a small bay and provides expansive views across Lough Corrib including a cluster of islands.
