Recently, we were delighted to host two evaluators from UNESCO to assess our application to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. This is a milestone moment for the Geopark. The assessors were Stéphane Legal of the Parc naturel régional du Luberon UNESCO Global Geopark and Antonio García Jímenez of the Parque Natural Sierras Subbéticas-Geoparque Mundial Unesco.
Despite some inclement weather, they both commented on the warm welcome they received and on the incredible heritage, experiences and people our region has to offer. We hosted a number of events where the evaluators could meet our stakeholders. We will know of the result of the assessment in the spring next year and keep you posted.
